Evzones, also known as Tsolias, are the members of the Presidential Guard, a unit responsible for safeguarding the Greek monument of the Unknown Soldier and the Presidential Mansion in Athens. The original design of this scarf is derived from their distinctive and striking uniform, which originates from the attire of the Klephts, fighters who resisted the Ottoman occupation of Greece.
